Product Description

Claudius claimed credit for the subjugation of Britain and was present at the triumphal parade at Colchester in 43 AD.

He had succeeded his nephew Caligula and was himself followed by his step-son Nero - two of the cruelest and most tyrannical of all the Roman Emperors. His own reputation is that of a wise but sometimes vacillating ruler.

The Roman AS coin was struck from the mint in Rome. The words inscribed around this coin are TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TRP IMP LIBERTAS AVGVSTA.

This coin has been cast in lead-free pewter and bronze plated.
