Product Description

The earliest stamp seals date from 7500 to 6000 BCE. They were made in many shapes with designs carved incuse into the base. These were used for administration, pottery, and on clay tags.

The earliest seals have been found in Asia Minor, the Near East, and Mesopotamia.

The seal displayed on the lapel pin is a replica of a green glass scaraboid seal which dates from the late 7th century BCE during the Persian period. The seal shows a schematic lion walking left with its tail raised.

A marking, possibly the letter nun (n), appears on the right.

This replica lapel pin is made of lead free pewter with a brass finish.
