In 2001, the United States Congress posthumously awarded Charles M. Schulz the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor the US legislature can award. U.S. Commemorative Medals honor significant historical events of the nation, or to honor those persons whose superior deeds and achievements have enriched our history, or the world.
They are miniature replicas of Congressional Authorized Gold Medals presented to individuals for notable achievements. When legislation permits, bronze duplicates (90% copper, 10% zinc), are struck.
The Merrick Mint then uniquely enhances each commemorative medal coin with its unique colorization process, which beautifies the significance of the coin. Each coin comes in a premium coin capsule with a Certificate of Authenticity.
