Kennedy's Birth (1917-2017), the Merrick Mint has authorized the release of this new "JFK" designed tribute to honor the 35th President of the United States.
The reverse commemorates the 50th Anniversary (1969-2019) of the first humans landing on the Moon as a part of NASA's Apollo 11 lunar mission. On May 25, 1961, JFK announced the goal of landing a man on the Moon before a joint session of Congress. His goal was achieved on July 20, 1969, when Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong stepped off the Lunar Module's ladder and onto the Moon's surface.
This coin magnificently commemorates both Kennedy's 100th Birthday and the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 (Kennedy's call for human exploration of the Moon).
